Go back to Pandora with the ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ trailer

One of the funniest developments in the big-budget blockbuster world over the last few years was the massive fuck-you audiences delivered to the high-minded assholes who quipped endlessly about how forgettable James Cameron’s Avatar was. “Highest grossing movie of all time,” they’d snark, “can you even name a character from it?” Turns out that didn’t matter after all when it came to the sequel’s prospects back in 2022, when The Way of Water made a cool billion dollars and legitimately entertained a broad audience.

Sure, they’re not the best movies, and they’re made in the pursuit of a, uh, strange vision, but they’re fuckin’ spectacles, which is what Jim Cameron delivers on. And, with the new trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, it looks like he’ll continue serving up portions of humble pie to his haters.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis (well, more of a cast list) for Avatar: Fire and Ash:

“With ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family. The film, which has a screenplay by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno, also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass and Kate Winslet.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters on December 19, and you know Disney’s going to go as hard as humanly possible to get people out for this one. We’re so excited for Joe Buck and Troy Aikman to feign enthusiasm for this movie during a Monday Night Football trailer premiere sometime around mid-October. Actually, do you think Aikman’s ever watched Avatar? We feel like he has no idea what these movies are, or he’s secretly their biggest fan, complete with blue body paint and such.
