Mic’d Up: Mo Amer turns Medford to ‘Moford’ with Lonestar power

Editor’s Note: It’s the same thing we all know in love when it comes to Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up — just a slightly different face. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.

With every visit that Mo Amer pays to Massachusetts, he seems to bring a little something extra, fresh, and new with him every time. This week, it’s no exception as the longtime Texan returns with an all-new hour of stand-up and and a heightened level of star — or rather “Lonestar” — power to boot.

With three shows in the commonwealth on the docket this week as part of his El Oso Palestino tour, the Kuwait-born comedy all-star kicks things off at Medford’s Chevalier Theatre tonight (May 7), fueled by a creatively fruitful year, both on stage and on screen. Aside from his highly successful stand-up shows that bring him all over the world, Amer also recently released the second season of his award-winning Netflix series, Mo.

Regardless of the temp in the room, Amer continues to provide a balance between humor and perspective that leaves everyone with a new way of seeing things through jokes and stories that are sure stick with his audience well beyond the closing curtain.

MO AMER: EL OSO PALESTINO :: Wednesday, May 7 at Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: 6:30 p.m., $43 to $65 :: Advance tickets
