From the moment Becky Robinson took to the Wilbur stage for the first time in 2024, she could feel just how special the room and city were based on the energy that filled the room. Now, as she makes her return, she’s capturing the magic for all of us to see.

Kicking off a sold out weekend at The Wilbur tonight (April 4), Robinson brings her Members Only tour, accompanied by her wildly successful vital character “The outspoken Housewife,” to the city to not only bring us up to speed on what has been happening in her world and what she’s had cooking in a creative sense, but to also mark a huge milestone in her career.

In addition to the packed rooms, Robinson will also be capturing the weekend in the form of her very first stand-up special, fully intertwining her character work that has brought her international recognition on social media with the stand-up grind that has kept her on the move for over 10 years. Now, while she’s certainly brought the brute force of her comedy to the masses in Boston before, she feels like right now is the perfect time to it it on record, as she’s feeling really good about where she is, in terms of her delivery, timing, and overall creative vision.

“I think I was operating at a less finessed performance level before, and every night felt like a big party. It still does feel that way, but this time around, the material is more dialed in and polished,” Robinson tells Vanyaland. “I’ve been doing stand-up for almost thirteen years now, and the culmination of that along with this specific character that has been the biggest for me, it just feels like it’s the right place and right time to do this, after working on this for a decade and a half.”

The overall experience of putting this special together may be new to Robinson, even after more than a decade in the industry, but the team she’s working with on making it something truly special, which includes her manager and longtime creative collaborator Joe Meloche. Over the years, the duo has forged quite the creative path from Robinson working in clubs, to building up her comedy brand in the digital space, and as we’re seeing now, continuing to become a more in-demand talent in theaters across the country.

Of course, the moment will make the opportunity all the more exciting, but to be able to have full control alongside her longtime creative co-pilot, and a number of elite industry professionals, just adds to the reward for Robinson.

“It’s going to be a very interesting and collaborative experience, with some interesting people coming together, like the lighting team that have worked with Billie Eilish, so it will be more of a comedy-slash-rock and roll show,” says Robinson. “We really want to make something that is really unique and special, and surprises people. I could stand in one spot for sixty minutes and just tell jokes, but we’ve done it this way so far, and people have loved it, so let’s make the craziest thing possible and see how it turns out.”

After all the years of putting in the work, adapting to new technology, and continuing to grow her craft, Robinson is excited for what the opportunity to record a special represents for her, both as an artist and as a person. Not to mention, to be able to remain in the captain’s chair when it comes to the creative direction of it truly makes this a milestone moment for her, and she’s excited for what this opportunity will do for her course ahead.

“There are times in your career where you just feel like you’re coasting, then there are times where you’re ready to go out on a limb and try new things even when you’re terrified and shitting your pants, and you ride that artist roller coaster of feeling like you suck,” says Robinson. “That’s what I’m excited for with this opportunity. I am very excited to do this for the first time, and have the chance to be hands-on with it. I think that will make it a true labor of love.”
