Editor’s Note: With a brand new year comes new shows, new faces, and a new format for Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.

After years of welcoming the comedic mastery of Maria Bamford to the area, one would think we’d have a good read on what she’s thinking when she hits the stage. However, with every new hour she brings back with her, it’s impressive, to say the least, that she’s able to bring us even deeper into her ever expansive mind.

Returning to The Wilbur on Thursday (March 6), Bamford makes her way back to the legendary stage to keep it real with a sold out crowd, offering up a brand new hour of her signature brand of quirky, insightful, and deeply personal comedy. In addition to her ongoing touring schedule, Bamford most recently released her third full-length special with Local Act in 2023, while also delivering her insights and experiences with mental illness in the form of her first book Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult: A Memoir of Mental Illness and the Quest to Belong Anywhere later that same year.

As one of comedy’s truly unique talents, Bamford’s shows have come a staple in clubs and theaters all over the country, so those able to check this one out will be be taking in a one-of-a-kind experience with one of the best in the biz.
