Empire of the Sun, Ask That God Tour, May 24

It’s absolutely wild that it’s been nearly 20 years since Empire of the Sun first crashed our hearts, minds, and iPods with Walking on a Dream, the cinematic Australian electronic duo’s 2008 debut album that still sounds like the future. Led by the billion-streaming title track, the record instantly made icons of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, and the duo have kept a steady beat ever since. Over the summer they dropped new album Ask That God, and now a North American tour of the same name sets sail in the spring, highlighted by a May 24 show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. “This body of work represents the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen and that’s reflected in the music,” says Littlemore. Adds Steele: “We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what is meant for the Empire to find. We know these songs have wings, and once they are released, they will fly and find a home with all kinds of souls all over the planet.” Tickets go on sale on Friday (December 13) at 10 a.m. local time.
