Royel Otis, Glory to Glory Tour, October 1
Suddenly, “Murder on the Dance Floor” is everywhere around Boston, with live performances from its creator and imitators blasting it out across the city from the nightclubs to the festivals. For those that prefer the cover version, here comes good news: Royel Otis, who took on the track for triple j’s Live A Version series a few months back, bring their viral rendition and more to Citizens House of Blues in Boston on October 1, with support from Friko. The Australian duo of Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell have masterfully blended cover songs (see also: “Linger” by The Cranberries) with their own psych-pop material (see also: debut album PRATTS & PAIN), and have developed a rabid fanbase in the process. They haven’t killed the groove yet. Tickets go on sale Friday (June 7) at 10 a.m. local time.
