LAVAGXRL finds freedom in electronica and ‘Faith in Chaos’

Mess with fire and you’ll get burned; suppress magma and you’ll never get a project like LAVAGXRL’s record Faith in Chaos. Churning, molten thoughts erupt and cool into rivulets of fizzy electronica on the Boston artist’s debut record, which broke through the surface earlier this month (November 14) via EveryDejaVu Records. The 13-track project deftly funnels underground pop into an experimental nook of Boston’s music scene, reveling in LAVAGXRL’s newfound freedom and all its glitchy glory.

“[It’s] just an eruption of my unconscious mind, it feels vulnerable and freeing,” shares LAVAGXRL, who singlehandedly wrote, produced, recorded, and mixed the record. “Searching for peace despite everything is an overarching theme.”

The irony, of course, is that serenity can only come after a thorough emotional spew — or in LAVAGXRL’s case, 37 minutes of warbling, otherworldly incantations. Find your own Faith in Chaos below, and grab tickets to LAVAGXRL’s album release show this Saturday (December 2) at Warehouse XI in Somerville.
