Grab some ‘za and watch the new ‘Ninja Turtles’ trailer, dudes

Ninja Turtles
Paramount

We know that this is most likely coincidental — after all, it’s the first true business day following the one-two punch of Memorial Day Weekend and Cannes wrapping up, and these are Ninja Turtles, not Ninja Frogs — but we have to think that there’s some force at work here that caused this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem trailer to drop on a Wednesday, my dudes. If there’s any better synthesis of meme material, subject matter, and promotional incentive, we’d be hard-pressed to find it. They even kinda look like the frog! Anyhow, it’s still not very surprising to us that this looks as fun as it does — that Spider-Verse art style really translates very well to this particular property — and we think this trailer will brighten up your Wednesday just a little bit.

Peep it:

Here’s a synopsis:

“In ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,’ after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

And here’s a full cast list, complete with exactly which character which actor is playing:

“Starring Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), Sharon Brown Jr. (Mikey), Micah Abbey (Donnie), Brady Noon (Raph), Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ayo Edebiri (April), Ice Cube (Superfly), Seth Rogen (Bebop), John Cena (Rocksteady), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Hannibal Buress (Genghis Frog), Natasia Demetriou (Wing Nut), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), and Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman)!”

Ice Cube is a perfect Superfly. Anyway, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters on August 2.
