Boston Calling goes beyond the festival with pre-show and afterparty

Boston Calling may be coming up fast this holiday weekend, but the party doesn’t start — or stop — there. Tonight (May 24), the music festival brings the pre-party to Brighton Music Hall for an all-ages Weekend Warmup show featuring shallow pools, Mosaic Mirrors, American Ink, and Vibe Check. And to keep the beat rolling, the fest returns to the Allston rock club for an afterparty Saturday night (May 27) with GA-20 and Coral Moons.

Tonight’s lineup is stacked. Weekend Warmup headliners shallow pools, of course, just released a new single titled “IHYK”. Self-described as having “combined playing experience of over one thousand years,” eight-piece band Mosaic Mirrors dropped their EP “Pretty Girls” in February. American Ink will bring their early emo revival rock sound to Allston, while Vibe Check round out the bill with funky electronica sounds.

The momentum keeps going into Saturday night with homegrown artists at the official Boston Calling afterparty. For a solid double-bill of festival performers, Coral Moons play Brighton Music Hall a few hours after their set under the sun at the Harvard Athletic Complex, while Boston Music Award-nominated blues band GA-20, who play the fest on Friday, will be bringing their latest live album to life at the Allston venue.
