One of the best festival experiences in New England is back for 2023, though its returning on a smaller, more intimate scale. Waking Windows, the annual spring music and arts fest in the Vermont city of Winooski, has unveiled its 2023 lineup, going down May 5 to 7, with a focus on the Saturday slate in Rotary Park. This year’s Waking Windows is a scaled-down version from the past decade’s festival, as organizers announced in February that the event will be significantly reduced in size from previous years, when dozens of bands took over the city’s walkable downtown over the weekend.
Things kick off with a Friday night show at The Monkey House, with the lineup to-be-announced. Saturday is where the fest showcases its familiar form, as in addition al a full-day slate at The Monkey House, it once again takes over Rotary Park with a lineup that features Pile, Underground System, Rough Francis, Zenizen, Cola, Mal Devisa, Hammydown, and Kafari. Sunday features a “Pizza Party Wind Down Wrap Up” party back at Monkey House.
“We couldn’t let May pass without celebrating Waking Windows so we decided to throw a party! In the Rotary. With bands we love,” Waking Windows writes. “So come kick it with us the first weekend in May. It’ll be smaller than in years past but we have some real great artists lined up and all (y)our friends will be there. We’ve invited the rest of the Winooski Community to join in so we’ll let you know who’ll be hosting other events over the weekend, but for now, grab a ticket and get ready to hang rotary-side to celebrate a pared down Waking Windows with us.”
