Editor’s Note: Welcome to V3 Weekend, Vanyaland‘s guide to help you sort out your weekend entertainment with curated selections and recommendations across our three pillars of MusicComedy, and Film/TV. It’s what you should know about, where you need to be, and where you’ll be going, with us riding shotgun along the way.

MusicAnthrax at House of Blues

Yeah there’s cold front coming in this weekend, but things should be back to regular February freeze zones by Sunday (February 5), just in time for Anthrax rolling its 40th anniversary tour with Black Label Society and Exodus into Boston’s House of Blues. Earlier this week, senior writer Michael Christopher had a wide-ranging 617 Q&A chat with Anthrax metal icon Scott Ian, discussing the tour, Pantera, Star Wars, biopics, reality television, and pretty much everything else. Oh, and Boston. Ian is super excited to get back into city limits.

“We cannot wait to play in the city again,” Ian tells Vanyaland. “The last time we were in the city was on the Killthrax tour back in I think ’17 [co-headlining with Killswitch Engage]. We’ve played Worcester a few times since, but we love gettin’ to play in the city – I love playing in Boston.”

ANTHRAX + BLACK LABEL SOCIETY + EXODUS :: Sunday, February 5 at House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St. in Boston, MA :: 6:30 p.m., all ages, $49.50 to $75.50 :: Event info :: Advance Tickets

Comedy: Scott Seiss at Off Cabot

Holy smokes what a week in comedy around Massachusetts. In Boston alone this weekend we have Taylor Tomlinson at Boch Center; Bert Kreischer at TD Garden; and Big Jay Oakerson at The Wilbur. But we’re on the clock, punching in, and feeling Scott Seiss up in Beverly at The Cabot’s Off Cabot comedy club, where the viral star of those dramatic IKEA employee videos holds court for three shows as our new comedy supervisor.

Mic’d Up breaks it all down: “From our screens with his all-too-relatable sketches about the frustrations of retail work, to the stage with his quick wit and energetic stand-up delivery, Seiss is no stranger to comedy, but has really made a name for himself in the scene just over these last few years. And as he makes his way back to the area, with his first major film role knocking on the door no less thanks to the upcoming Cocaine Bear movie, the Baltimore native is poised to capitalize big time on his growing fame both within the area and all around the country.”

SCOTT SEISS :: Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4 at Off Cabot, 9 Wallis St. in Beverly, MA :: Friday at 7, Saturday at 4:30 and 7 p.m., $30 :: Advance tickets

Film/TVJennifer Coolidge Woman of the Year Parade

Fresh off this week’s crowning of Bob Odenkirk as Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year, Hasty Pudding Theatricals kneels before a new queen as Jennifer Coolidge is honored this weekend in Cambridge as its 2023 Woman of the Year. The unmistakable The White Lotus actor will partake in a parade through the streets of Harvard Square this Saturday afternoon (February 4) — weather pending!?! — before a sold-out celebratory roast that night at Farkas Hall, where Coolisge will be presented with her Pudding Pot and attend the opening night of Cosmic Relief.

“We are so excited to welcome Jennifer Coolidge back to her hometown and to Harvard, the iconic setting of Legally Blonde. Her glittering personality and comedic presence are so Pudding,” says Man & Woman of the Year Coordinator Maya Dubin. “We know she’ll fit right into the Pudding’s musical spectacular, though she’ll still have to earn her Pudding Pot on stage.”
