Prepare yourself for Lik Meraki’s song “Anticipation” all you want — its opening lines will sideswipe you regardless. “I’m on deck / Finna batter up / I swear half of these rappers suck” the Boston rapper spits with an implied eye roll. Meraki comes with bars a-blazin’ on her newest track (out today, October 14), dropping a diss as an introduction and then spelling out her uphill battle.
“Anticipation” drips with unshakable confidence, as Meraki states her status among the “chosen few” like she’s unraveling an ancient prophecy. She’s poked around your Soundcloud account. She’s not impressed. And now she’s filling a vacant seat at the top of the hip-hop heap, since nobody else seems to measure up. “I noticed that the crown is for the taking, so” she remarks casually.
So, it looks like there’s gonna be new royalty in town.
