We’ve only just caught our breath from Sigrid’s recent Boston show, but now comes another Norwegian alt-pop singer to capture our hearts and playlists. This time it’s Dagny, who takes a wistful tone on her latest single, a rich ballad out today (October 10) called “Highs & Lows” and it’s all about standing by someone during difficult times. Chances are it’ll resonate with many.

“I’m very happy to announce ‘Highs & Lows’ — one of the last songs before diving into the process of making a new album,” she says. “‘Highs & Lows’ is one of the most raw songs I’ve ever written. You could say it’s about unconditional love — about steadily standing by someone’s side through all the highs and the lows, all the easy and the challenging. I hope this song is gonna feel like a warm hug for someone who needs it.”

This new track follows the summer’s breakout hit “Brightsider,” and serves as the last song from Dagny before she begins work on her sophomore album, building upon the momentum from 2020 debut effort Strangers / Lovers.

Born Dagny Norvoll Sandvik in Tromsø, Norway, the mononymous artist’s music has been streamed more than a billion times, and she’s been nominated for six Norwegian Grammy’s (Spellemannprisen) while co-writing songs for Katy Perry and Ashnikko and collaborating with the likes of The Wombats, Steve Aoki, Astrid S, Crystal Fighters, and others.

It’s only a matter of time before she’s a household name here in the states. Get into “Highs & Lows” below.
