Joe Bermudez stretches himself to the limit in the ‘Tug Of War’ video

Joe Bermudez is one cheeky liar. “It’s like Bridgerton goes Top 40 — without all the butts,” the Boston DJ and producer said of his newest track “Tug of War” when it dropped a few weeks ago, referencing the endless vexing-and-sexing and of Netflix’s ye olde British romance series. As for the accompanying music video? It’s pure ass in a workout class, filmed from a gym in Somerville (“It now joins other classics filmed there, like The Town and Sex Tape,” Bermudez chides).

The visual for “Tug of War” dropped earlier this week (September 26), plopping Bermudez and featured Maltese vocalist Dana McKeon into a sea of sweat and spandex. “We took over RX Strength Training, hired an instructor from Booty By Sammi, set up a full-on DJ booth, and did the craziest ‘spin’ class you’ll ever see,” the veteran Boston DJ explains. “Basically it’s a full-fledged, dance-pop bop about the struggle for power in a relationship and how we continue to do it, even though we know it’s destructive.”

The only thing getting destroyed here are some arm muscles in a literal guys-versus-gals round of tug of war. Hey, at least the tunes are good for grimacing through the pain.
