Editor’s Note: As summer rages on, the top-tier selection of comedy shows to check out around Boston is at hot as the temps outside, as homegrown talent, national headliners, and open mics galore highlight the calendar. Live entertainment continues to make its way back into our social lives — mask up! stay safe! — and so we always want to make sure you know about cool stuff going on in the world of comedy. Enter Mic’d Up, our ongoing weekly series that details the best live comedy shows to consider as you head out and about. Below find our rundown for this week, through Sunday (August 28).

Comedy Bang! Bang! at Chevalier Theatre

Step into the insanity of the Comedy Bang! Bang! universe as Scott Auckerman and crew make their way back to Medford to help us push through to the end of the Auggie-doggie drought in style. Get lost in every running joke and deep cut reference as one of the biggest comedy podcasts on the planet comes to life before your very eyes once again.

Monday, August 22 at Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: 7 p.m. :: Tickets are $41.75 to $111.75

The Fringes Comedy Night at The Haven

Hosted by inseparable comedy pals Will Smalley and Andrew Mayer, the area’s newest stand-up showcase is already a couple weeks into their Jamaica Plain-based run at The Haven, and in the process, has already proven itself to be one of the best for your buck while putting up a cavalcade of comedic forces every time.

Wednesday, August 24 at The Haven, 284 Amory St. in Boston, MA :: 8 p.m. :: Tickets are $25

Wanda Sykes at Chevalier Theatre

After needing to reschedule the original date, Wanda Sykes makes her way back to Medford for what is sure to be a zesty night of hard-hitting comedy and perhaps even some sharp social commentary from the comedy all-star. Great comedy aside, the best part is that certain locally-bred comics won’t be there to make things unnecessarily awkward.

Thursday, August 25 at Chevalier Theatre, 30 Forest St. in Medford, MA :: 7 p.m. :: Tickets are $32 to $70

Ray Harrington at Off Cabot Comedy Club

There are plenty of qualities that make Ray Harrington such a gravitational presence onstage, but arguably his best is being able to keep a fresh but still effective perspective on the world around him, while continuously bringing us deep into the valley of introspection with dives into adulthood, parenthood, and always working to be a better person.

Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at Off Cabot Comedy Club, 9 Wallis St. in Beverly, MA :: 7:30 p.m. (both nights) :: Tickets are $25
