After at least a year of slinging Hound Dog Taylor tunes, GA-20 are feeling like themselves again.

Following the success of their all-covers record Try It…You Might Like It: GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor, the Boston blues band circles back to recording original tunes for their third LP Crackdown, due out September 9 via Karma Chief Records / Colemine Records. GA-20 shared the big news earlier this week (July 6), coupled with a handful of new tour dates, listed below.

Crackdown‘s lead single “Easy On The Eyes” also arrived this week, welcoming back the the group’s gritty strain of modern blues — which, in this case, was heavily influenced by a down-South combination of fan antics and heavy pours.

“The dominant guitar riff in ‘Easy On The Eyes’ was born during a drunken late night jam after a show in Atlanta,” guitarist Matt Stubbs shares. “There may have been a lady at the show that night who inspired the sentiment; singing ‘Ohhh’ was like, ‘Ohhh, man!’ The feeling is heavy and raw, like a dark and sweaty joint after hours, where maybe you dive into bad decisions and the consequences come later.”

Pre-order Crackdown here, and lend your ears to “Easy on Eyes” below.
