Band in the USA: Alvvays reawaken, announce fall tour

It’s been five years since Alvvays left us tossing and turning “In Undertow,” lost in the lush melodies of their swoonsome 2017 single. After some time to themselves, the Canadian band of Antisocialites is heading on 23-date tour this fall, definitely probably with new music in tow – but more on that later.

The tour begins in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre in mid-October, and wraps up here in Boston at Roadrunner on November 18. The rapid-fire run of shows includes ample stops in California (four dates) and Texas (three dates), before closing out across the Northeast with performances in Philadelphia, New Haven, and New York. Wisconsin-turned-Chicago group Slow Pulp will accompany Alvvays on the road as the opening act for all 20-plus gigs.

While Alvvays hasn’t officially announced any new music, they did post a 37-second instrumental teaser on Instagram earlier this week — and it certainly sounds dreamy enough to land on the group’s potential third studio album.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (June 24) at 10 a.m. EDT; peep the full list of tour dates below (and keep that Instagram snippet on loop while you wait for a “real” album announcement).
