RIP Youth propels a late-night dance party on ‘Midnight Hour’

It’s really hard to suppress our spring fever over the first few days of March, despite the lingering cold temperatures and icy snow that always overstays its welcome here in New England. But RIP Youth’s golden new retro-funk dance-pop jam should be hot enough to launch us not only deep into spring, but melt away any shivers we’re carrying with us into the weekend. It’s called “Midnight Hour,” it’s out today (March 4) via via Radikal Records, and RIP Youth — the moniker of Australia-born, Los Angeles-based songwriter/producer James Maas — says that it’s all about those late-night dance parties that seem to define the cruising nature of summer. “It’s a song I wrote about leaning into your freaky side,” declares Maas. “It’s a carefree song about the persona we take on after dark. When they say nothing good happens after midnight, I’d beg to differ.” Set the clocks forward and get into “Midnight Hour” via Spotify below.
