In perhaps the worst-kept secret of all time, Ewan McGregor showed up at D23 to announce that he will, in fact, be returning as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a brand-new series on Disney+.

McGregor has long talked about wanting to return to the role, and rumors emerged last week that he had finally signed a deal to do so. According to the actor himself, the scripts for the series have already been written, and the show will begin filming in London next year. This will be great news for all the folks over at the Prequel Memes subreddit, that’s for sure.

Here’s Germain Lussier from io9 who was on hand at the event with a brief plot synopsis:

“Set approximately around the time ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is set, the show will follow Obi-Wan in exile on the planet Tatooine to watch over the hidden son of Anakin and his wife Padmé, Luke.”

Stay tuned for any more information as it comes.
