After holding the inaugural Cranking & Skanking Fest at The Palladium in Worcester last year, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have booked a second edition of the festival, this year taking the “summer of ska” to Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

The ska, punk, and reggae-centric event will take place on August 10 at The Met Courtyard, featuring sets from The Amazing Royal Crowns, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Buck-0-Nine, and, of course, the Bosstones themselves. More artists will be announced over the course of the summer.

Last year, the first-ever Cranking & Skanking Fest kicked off outdoors at the Palladium, with performances from bands like The Bouncing Souls, Big D & The Kids Table, Toots & The Maytals, and the Planet Smashers. Worcester-area bands simultaneously performed inside the venue on the upstairs stage.

“We pay our respects, tribute to our hometown–the great city of Boston–annually with our holiday event The HomeTown ThrowDown,” says Bosstones frontman Dicky Barrett. “So we decided to hold a summer-time ska/punk festival in various New England cities every year — great, tough, hard-working cities like Brockton (Massachusetts), Portland (Maine), Nashua (New Hampshire) or New Haven (Connecticut). Last year The Cranking & Skanking Fest’s maiden voyage, in Worcester (Massachusetts) went off without a hitch — and with a bang, so let’s go! Pawtucket, Rhode Island 2019 — you’re up.”
