No, The Hives are not playing Boston Calling. But they are cranking the amps at a few North American stops this spring, and now the Swedish rock brigade have a new tune to show for it.

It’s called “I’m Alive,” it’s their first new song in four years, and it’ll be pressed to vinyl this summer by Third Man Records. Hell yeah, welcome back, The Hives!

“’I’m Alive’ is a song about crawling up from under a rock and obliterating all resistance that sounds like crawling up from under a rock and obliterating all resistance because it is a band crawling up from under a rock and obliterating all resistance,” says Hives frontman Pelle Almqvist in the most Pelle Almqvist way possible. “Use it in your own life to help you obliterate your own resistance!”

Word to that. The track was produced by Dave Sardy (LCD Soundsystem, Marilyn Manson, Fall Out Boy) and recorded in Los Angeles, and you can liven up your Friday with it below. The Hives first new album in seven years is expected to hit by year’s end.
