Lady Gaga nails her cover of David Bowie’s ‘I’m Afraid of Americans’

Gaga kicked off her ENIGMA Las Vegas residency last week with a surprise nod to Bowie

Before Lady Gaga kicked off her ENGIMA Las Vegas residency last week (December 28), there was a lot of speculation about what the A Star Is Born queen would sneak into her lengthy set (a new single? fan favorite deep cuts? delightfully raucous covers?).

While she’s yet to deliver any new material, Gaga provided the ultimate mashup at her first three ENIGMA shows (December 28, 30, and 31): A mix of her lascivious Born This Way tune “Government Hooker” and Bowie’s classic “I’m Afraid of Americans.” It’s the only cover she’s performed at her three ENIGMA shows to date, although with her residency currently booked through the end of 2019, she could phase it out for something else — be it new music or more The Fame gems — anytime she wants.

Peep a clip of the mashup from opening night below.
