There are very few good things that have ever come out of Long Island, and this writer is certainly not one of them. The Lemon Twigs have quickly become one of the region’s finer exports of late, and now the young brothers slingin’ the retro pop-rock have released a new video for “Never In My Arms, Always In My Heart” and announced an early 2019 tour that hits The Paradise Rock Club on January 14.
“Never In My Arms, Always In My Heart” was featured on the band’s summer album Go To School, and the video was co-directed by Winston Case and the Twigs’ own Michael D’Addario. It’s a sad, old Long Island bar tale as old as Port Jefferson streets.
“Brian and I played in a whole lot of Long Island bars growing up, and man, we met a lot of people like this,” Michael D’Addario writes to NPR Music in an email. “Sometimes the L.I. mothers would gossip and you’d hear a sad story like this one, and somebody would end up with a tattoo that said ‘Never In My Arms, Always In My Heart.'”
