Deerhunter ask the world 'Why Hasn't Everything Already Disappeared?'

We’ve already begun looking ahead to 2019, and now we can add a new LP from Deerhunter to our lists of anticipation. Bradford Cox and the band have detailed their eighth album, Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared?, which hits January 18 via 4AD.
Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? is billed as “a science fiction album about the present,” and its first single is the buoyant “Death in Midsummer”; watch the video below. And the whole presentation is already asking a lot of questions:
“How do you describe an album out of time, concerned with the disappearance of culture, of humanity, of nature, of logic and emotion? Why make this album in an era when attention spans have been reduced to next to nothing, and the tactile grains of making music have been further reduced to algorithms and projected playlist placement? Why wake up in the morning? Why hasn’t everything already disappeared?
Shortly after its release, Deerhunter will embark on a 14-date North American tour, and that lands at Boston’s Royale on February 24.
