'B' for Boston: Bronx rapper Cardi B declares her love for the Red Sox

It turns out Cardi B doesn’t root, root, root for her home team.
While we were all watching the Red Sox play the Yankees last (October 9) in the American League Division Series, video surfaced that made Cardi B’s rooting interests very clear — and a bit surprising. The forever-proud Bronx-based rapper recently professed her love for the Red Sox — not the Yankees — via a short clip on Instagram.
“I know y’all don’t understand, but if y’all have known me for a long time, y’all know I’ve always been a Red Sox fan,” she states in the vid, which Ortiz posted on October 8. “And I’m from Highbridge, so I literally live nine blocks away from the Yankee Stadium. My father — he’s a Red Sox fan, my grandfather’s a Red Sox fan. It runs in my blood!”
Big Papi was clearly pleased, adding the caption “That’s my girl Red Sox for life 🙌🏿.”
Cardi cancelled her opening portion of Bruno Mars’ XXIVk Magic Tour Finale tour earlier this year to spend more time with her newborn daughter Kulture, but following this epic sports news, we’re hoping for an opening season pitch or Fenway Park concert come 2019.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, closed out the Yankees last night in the Bronx and begin their American League Championship series against the Houston Astros this Saturday (October 13).
