Sigrid hits us with a fun blast of alt-pop called 'Sucker Punch'

The list of Norwegian things and people we love is significant: Pop dynamo a-ha. Former NHLer Espen Knutsen. Motherfucking fjords. We can go on and on, but lately, our Norwegian swoon circles the unmistakable aura of Sigrid. The alt-pop singer is a frequent face and voice here on Vanyaland, and we think she’s one of the most slept-on artist making caps-locked J-A-M-S these days. This week, the 22-year-old is back with a new joint called “Sucker Punch,” and it bounces like Charli XCX, punches like Alina Deverceski, and cruises like Nelly Furtado. It’s certified bop. “Sucker Punch is one of my favorite songs so far and I’ve been so excited for release day!” Sigrid says. “Emily Warren, Martin Sjølie, and I made it when we were in Ocean Sound Recordings in my hometown a while ago. The song is just a result of our usual way of working: Talking, cooking, strolling, singing, dancing, experimenting…! Ugh it was so fun — just like the track itself.” Morten Harket would be proud.
