Listen to Tyler, The Creator rap over a Saint Etienne sample

It’s 2018, and anything is possible. Hell, we’ve already admitted to liking that new John Mayer joint.

But we’re still a bit surprised to watch the clip below of Tyler, The Creator dropping a verse over Saint Etienne’s “4:35 in the Morning.” Tyler published the clip earlier today (May 22) with the description: “a random song laying around from the flower boy tour in feb” and “filmed by luis panch perez.” The video is titled “435,” but doesn’t include any additional credits.

The video certainly caught Saint Etienne’s attention, who just commented on Facebook: “This new Tyler, The Creator track released a few hours ago sounds familiar.”

Saint Etienne’s “4:35 in the Morning” was first heard on a U.S. limited edition bonus disc, Fairfax High, that accompanied their 1998 album Good Humor, and was also included on a bonus disc of the album’s 2010 deluxe edition. The part Tyler raps over comes in around the 2:45 mark, and it’s pretty wild to hear Sarah Cracknell’s voice as he does his thing.

Anyway, Tyler is set to perform at this weekend’s Boston Calling. Maybe he’ll bust this out.
