KANGA, CMB, SØLVE, The Blood of Others live at ONCE Ballroom

Editor’s Note: As Somerville’s Porchfest shifted activities over the weekend from Saturday to Sunday, there was no such uncertainty Saturday night (May 12) at ONCE Ballroom. Los Angeles electronic music project KANGA brought her own synth storm to ONCE, part of an extended evening of emotive dark-art festivities curated by the fine folks at Corrosion. The night also featured a homecoming for Casey Desmond’s current Oakland-based project CMB (aided live here at home by Mei Ohara, AVOXBLUE, and a pair of familiar faces from the Desmond family musical tree), as well as performances by San Diego’s SØLVE and Portland’s The Blood of Others. “It was an awesome eclectic mix of genres that kind of felt like a mini music festival,” says Vanyaland photographer Ted Petrosky, who was in the mix all evening capturing visuals under the strobes.
