New Sounds: Cold Fronts know that ‘Stayin In’ is a day and night well spent

Cold Fronts’ fresh new jam “Stayin In” knows all about the thrills of making plans when there are no plans at all. Smoking izm, bedroom chillin’, watching that tele-vision and ordering takeout are hallmarks of a day and night well spent, far from the pressure and pain of daily existence and contact with the outside world.

It’s firm advice, and some we are taking to heart pretty much every night until eternity — with the exception of when the guitar-pop band plays Great Scott in Allston on February 10. Weakened Friends and Pushflowers are also on that bill, so the show clearly rules, but more than anything, we just wanna rage about staying home on a rare night when we actually venture outside.

And plus, we think “Stayin In” will sound excellent over the Great Scott PA. The song’s producer, Ayad Al Adhamy, knows that stage and those speakers quite well, since he played the club a bunch as a member of electro-pop wizards Passion Pit back when it was fun to go out.

“Stayin In” is just a taste off Cold Fronts’ upcoming sophomore record Fantasy Du Jour, set for release April 20 (when else?) via Sire Records.
