Open Spaces: Mansun frontman Paul Draper announces North American tour dates

Earlier this year Mansun’s Attack of the Grey Lantern celebrated its 20th anniversary, holding up as one of the more interesting and misunderstood albums of the Britpop era. While frontman Paul Draper recently announced that he’d perform the record in its entirety early next year in England, fans here on this side of the Atlantic are getting something just as rare: A string of stateside dates by Draper in the spring.

Draper, who releases solo album Spooky Action over the summer, will head out on an eight-show run with frequent collaborator Steven Wilson, the English progressive rock musician probably best known for his work in Porcupine Tree.

Drapers joins Wilson for the first leg of the latter’s tour, kicking off April 24 in D.C. and wrapping May 3 in Milwaukee. Three dates in is a Boston date, April 24 at the Berklee Performance Center. Click here for ticket info.

Amazingly, these dates will be the first time Draper has performed in the U.S. since Mansun’s Grey Lantern tour in the late-’90s.

“It’s an amazing honour to return to the States to play eight shows supporting my good friend Steven Wilson,” Draper says in a press release. “It’s been 20 years since I played in the USA and I’m really looking forward to performing songs from my solo records as well as one or two Mansun classics for fans in the United States. I literally can’t wait to see you at the concerts.”

Check out all the dates below as you stream Spooky Action via Spotify.
