What Studio 52 Says: Boston’s own Glacier are an instrumental doom quintet whose appropriate slogan is “No happy music.” Self proclaimed as “instrumental sad rock,” their bio consists of two words and couldn’t be more accurate: “Loud. Sad.” Formed in 2012, they’ve since released 4 LPs, and their 2017 release Though Your Sins Be As Scarlet, They Shall Be White As Snow; Though They Be Red Like Crimson, They Shall Be As Wool consists of two songs at nearly half-hour long. Each one of their songs tells its own depressing story that starts off slow and droning, gradually builds, hits heavy with a climax, and leaves you in despair. Come immerse yourself in the gloom at their record release show tonight (November 17) with Pray For Sound, Courage Cloak, and SEA at O’Brien’s Pub, one of Allston’s go-to spots for heavy local shows. — Trevor McSweeney, Studio 52.
