Triple Header: Franz Ferdinand announce new single, album, and North American tour

As 2018 approaches, Franz Ferdinand are gearing up to once again take out us — big time. Today, the Glasgow indie rock band released information about the next era for the group, which starts today with the release of new single “Always Ascending.”

The song, which happens to be the title track for Franz Ferdinand’s forthcoming album, is out first future-funk glimpse at the band’s next album, which is due out February 9, 2018.

“In terms of the sound, the song is quite representative of the whole record,” frontman Alex Kapranos tells The NME. “This one sounds quite different from our previous records – it’s a bit wider and less of a ‘straight up guitar’ album. It’s just a taster. There are many more surprises to come.”

Franz Ferdinand also dropped their 2018 tour dates, starting things off in Tokyo in January, looping back to Europe in February and March, and landing in North America by April. Boston is the second stop of the 2018 North American tour, welcoming the group at the House of Blues right after their gig in Toronto.
