Forced Out: Colin Trevorrow is no longer directing ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Today in not-at-all serious but still-colossal breaking news, director Colin Trevorrow has been fired from Star Wars: Episode IX. This comes after a pretty crazy summer for the director, in which his film The Book of Henry bombed both financially and critically, and for Lucasfilm, who have already endured one director-firing scandal earlier this year. It’s a big shake-up, but one that’s not totally unexpected.

Here’s Lucasfilm’s statement on the matter:

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

Stay tuned for more news as it develops. We’d recommend Last Jedi director Rian Johnson for the role, but who do you want to direct this?
