New Sounds: BØRNS keeps it confectionary on the driving ‘Faded Heart’

BØRNS always has been (and continues to be) the dude at the bar who could pick up your girlfriend in 0.5 seconds — a reputation he maintains and bolsters on his new single “Faded Heart.”

Although it’s been two years since BØRNS treated us to his debut full-length album, Dopamine, “Faded Heart” fits as snug as one of the svelte singer’s preferred Gucci jackets. The confectionary track is our first taste of his forthcoming album, title TBA, which is reportedly out sometime at the beginning of 2018.

Waxing between illusory and poetic, long-haired alt-pop hippie Garrett Borns weaves a “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” vibe on the haplessly cheery track. His dreamy voice drips over every revved-up bass lick, and the lyrics read like a cow-eyed teenage love letter — but there’s some not-so-subtle sex tucked between the lines, too.

“You in the suede backseat is all I’ll ever need,” he croons on the tune’s second verse.

Mr. steal yo’ girl status achieved. Get a sugar rush and check out the tune below.
