New Sounds: Bleachers team with Lorde on towering single ‘Don’t Take The Money’

It’s still only March, but Jack Antonoff is having a pretty good year.

The multi-facted musician and songwriter teamed with Lorde earlier this month on sweeping single “Green Light”, and last night unveiled a towering new single from his indie-pop group Bleachers. The track is called “Don’t Take The Money,” features Lorde on backing vocals, and dropping on various streaming services at midnight.

Antonoff debuted “Don’t Take The Money” by stuffing a USB drive inside a piñata of himself in New York’s Union Square on Thursday afternoon.

This new cut is expected to be on Bleachers’ new album, and the follow-up to 2014’s Strange Desire is expected later this year. In the meantime, Antonoff is set to live-score a screening of The Breakfast Club this Saturday (April 1) in Los Angeles, and has a book about record stores expected to hit shelves both physical and digital sometime in 2017.

Bleachers are also making the festival rounds this spring and summer, appearing at Shaky Knees in Atlanta (May 14), Washington State’s Sasquatch (May 27), Governors Ball in NYC (June 2), and Delaware’s Firefly (June 15 to 18).

He’s a busy bee. Take that money, after all!
