Thunder Road to host ‘theater style’ Oscars viewing party to benefit Oxfam International

Long before the internet forced us all to stay at home alone in an effort to live-tweet awards shows and prove to strangers just how hot our takes can be, people actually used to go out and gather socially. Sounds fucking nuts, but it’s true.

Sunday at Thunder Road, the Somerville rock club and bistro is going old-school with its Oscars viewing party, complete with theater style broadcast, themed cocktails, trivia, and complimentary prosecco toast. It’s organized by the creators of the Pop Icon brunch, which has raised a mimosa glass to everyone from Britney to Whitney, and proceeds from the party will benefit the efforts of Oxfam.

“Refugees matter, and in some small way, we wish to support an organization that believes that the lives of those fleeing violence and persecution are deserving of every protection,” says Zachary Hirtz, food manager and Thunder Road special events promoter. “That and we love the Oscars!”

Things start at 6 p.m. at the Union Square venue, and tickets, which include food, are $55 per person for table seating and $35 per person for elevated bar seating. Get more info via thunderroadclub.com, or the flyer below.
