Rocklamation Proclamation: Mayor declares December 8 as ‘Boston Music Awards Day’

When you’re partying at the Boston Music Awards this Thursday at the House of Blues, you’ll be doing so on a day designated in its honor. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh this morning declared December 8 as “Boston Music Awards Day” around the city, joining previous distinctions for the likes of Godsmack, Guster, and Riot Grrrls across the city.

“I urge all of my fellow Bostonians to join me in recognizing the Boston Music Awards contributions to celebrating the vibrant music scene in the City of Boston,” says Walsh in a press release. Read the full proclamation below.

On Thursday, 33 awards will be handed out, 12 nominated artists will perform live, 2 DJs will keep the music flowing, and one host, Lamont Price, will hold it all together. Get tickets to the awards party here:

To get us all properly revved up for the main event, a special Boston Music Awards pre-party goes down tonight at Hojoko in the Fenway, with live tunes from Salem Wolves and Weakened Friends and DJs sets from Frank White. RSVP here.
