Lemmy In The Sky: Listen to Luna cover Motörhead’s ‘Killed By Death’ for A.V. Club

Just when we thought Hockey Dad rebooting Hole’s “Malibu” would be the coolest cover to surface this week, Luna has gone and sparked up Motörhead’s 1988 classic “Killed By Death.”

The cover comes as the latest offering from the A.V. Club’s Undercover series, which in the past has given us gems like Eagulls covering the Stone Roses and Andrew Jackson Jhad taking on Stone Temple Pilots. For this latest tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister, Dean Wareham’s celebrated and reunited dream-pop crew — which just played Royale here in Boston this past Friday night — up their own ante just a bit, and bludgeon the title refrain deep into the listeners skull.

You’ll be speak-singing it all afternoon.

Luna’s current tour lands at the Manchester Academy 3 tonight in England, and you can view all their upcoming dates here, including a three-night stand in San Francisco come January.
