We first got hip to the eclectic electro-pop sounds of Sofi Tukker back in the summer, when the New York duo played the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion with M83 and Chairlift. Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern caught the attention of the early-arrivers and never let it go.
Today, they crash our lives once again as the sun starts to set, this time as the weekend jumpoff we’ve been searching for in the form of a new 30-minute playlist called Animal Talk Mixtape Vol. 1. The mix features eight tracks, including remixes, exclusives, and selections from Sofi Tukker’s July EP Soft Animals.
Buzz has been steadily building for the duo, who have racked up five million Soundcloud spins and more than 16 million Spotify streams for their various singles. Later this month, they head out on a fall tour with St. Lucia that hits Fete Music Hall Ballroom in Providence on September 24. A few festival dates help round out the year, and you can eyeball all their upcoming live appearances after the Soundcloud jump.
