Interview: Palehound’s Ellen Kempner on the importance of having her mom in the Boston Calling crowd

Editor’s Note: Everyone who hears Palehound for the first time stops to take it all in. Earlier today at Boston Calling, Courtney Barnett marveled at the coolness of the Allston guitar-rock band, and those who showed up to City Hall Plaza early to catch their set were in for a treat. Playing songs from last year’s acclaimed album Dry Food, Palehound were less a “local opener” and more on the level of every touring band and artist that played after. A few hours after their set, singer/guitarist Ellen Kempner dropped by the Vanyaland media area to chat with Cory Lamz and discuss playing the festival, her dreamcatcher tattoo, and the importance of having her proud mother in the crowd.
