New Ambition: Shura gives us the dance-pop track we’ve been waiting for in ‘What’s It Gonna Be?’

With stellar singles like “Indecision”, “2Shy”, and “Touch”, British singer Shura has been slowly developing a reputation for slick, spellbinding electronic-pop songs fit for getting lost within your headphones during quiet rides on the subway. But where her previous singles were the sounds of coming home after a long, emotionally draining day, her new track “What’s It Gonna Be?” is the sound of anticipation, of going out and facing the unknown.

The upbeat, ’80s-flavored track, which has given us visions of Molly Ringwald’s dirty KEDS dancing in the window of our minds, is off Shura’s long-awaited debut album, Nothing’s Real, out July 8 via Polydor.

“This record is about fancying someone and maybe having a kind of connection and realizing that it’s probably not gonna happen,” Shura recently told BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac.

All the more reason to go out and find someone new. Listen to “What’s It Gonna Be?” via Soundcloud, and allow it to soundtrack the process of moving on and venturing into the unknown.
