When you are a living member of the Beatles and can’t get into a Grammys VIP afterparty

Some guy named Paul McCartney was denied entry into a VIP Grammys afterparty hosted by Tyga last night in Los Angeles. This McCartney fella used to play in a band called “The Beatles” and was rolling with some dudes named Beck and Taylor Hawkins — but it wasn’t enough to get into The Argyle in Hollywood.

“How VIP do we gotta get?” asks McCartney, before joking that he and his boys need another hit to be recognized.

The whole ordeal was captured on camera by a TMZ reporter, who was stationed outside the club. While Sir Paul was waiting, he was asked about his favorite Rolling Stones song. Then shit got weird.

Writes TMZ: “While we’re not sure who exactly was invited, we know that three of pop’s biggest icons were not. Paul McCartney alone would seem like a shoo-in to any musically-inclined event, after party or otherwise, but apparently being apart of The Beatles isn’t enough of a resume. …When security refused to let them in the door (twice), Paul McCartney can be heard saying, ‘How VIP do we gotta get? We need another hit, guys. We need another hit! Work on it.'”

McCartney and his crew tried again, but ultimately were rejected and headed back to their rides. TMZ says they ended up at a Republic Records party, where they were no doubt recognized.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m.: Tyga says it’s all a misunderstanding.
