Keep Calling Me: Peter Hook & the Light announce North American tour, performing ‘Substance’

It seems that Peter Hook & the Light are returning to North America later this year.

A full tour announcement is expected this afternoon (UPDATE: here it is), but some individual shows have begun to surface online — including a November 26 performance at the Sinclair in Cambridge.

Tickets are on sale Friday at noon.

The former New Order and founding Joy Division bassist will be performing each band’s compilation album Substance (New Order’s was released in 1978, Joy Division’s the following year) in their entirety, continuing Hooky’s practice of touring through his entire back catalog (he bitterly split with New Order a few years ago, and the Manchester electronic music pioneers released a new album, their first without Hooky, last year). With no opening act, so Peter Hook & the Light will have the entire evening to run through a few dozen songs.

His backing band, the Light, is highlighted by his son, Jack Bates, who last summer toured with Smashing Pumpkins. Read our November 2014 interview with Hooky here.
