Unsatisfied But Oh Well: Slaves cancel North American tour due to injury

We’ve been patiently waiting for British punk duo Slaves to crash these American shores for what feels like forever — ever since they flipped our minds inside out at SXSW 2014, to be exact. Now with their North American tour set to start next week, turns out we’ll have to wait a little bit longer.

This afternoon Slaves announced they have scrapped their seven-date December tour, which was to start Wednesday in Orange County, California, and wrap with a pair of New York shows, December 9 at Rough Trade in Brooklyn and the following night at the Studio at Webster Hall (there was no Boston date). The reasoning stems from the dislocated shoulder drummer/singer Isaac Holman suffered during a gig earlier this month in the United Kingdom. Holman lost his footing at a November 18 show in Norwich and fell into a speaker.

The shoulder hasn’t healed up in time for the band to jump the Atlantic, so the entire tour has been scrapped. Earlier today, Slaves posted a message to their Facebook. It reads:

A STATEMENT ABOUT THE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR:

Hello. This is a message for anyone who is planning to come and see us on our December North American tour. Sadly, we are not going to be able to come and see you just yet. Isaac’s recently dislocated shoulder is still very sore and fragile and have been told it’s not strong enough to use without the risk of causing serious further damage. For that reason we have had to pull the tour. It’s a real shame and we are very sad to have had to come to this conclusion, but these things happen. We are human beings. We will make it up to you we promise. For those of you who bought tickets, refunds will be available at point of purchase. Lots of love. Isaac & Laurie. xxx

Here are the affected dates:

Dec 2: Santa Ana, CA Constellation Room
Dec 3: Los Angeles, CA The Echo
Dec 4: San Francisco, CA Rickshaw Stop
Dec 6: Chicago, IL Subterranean
Dec 7: Toronto, ON, Canada Hard Luck Bar
Dec 9: Brooklyn, NY Rough Trade NYC
