I Stand Alone (With Dads): Sully Erna of Godsmack takes daughter to see 5 Seconds Of Summer

Doesn’t matter who you are; when you’re a dad, sometimes you gotta do dad things. And that includes taking your daughter to see boy bands on a Friday night.

Godsmack frontman Sully Erna joined thousands of other dads last night in taking their daughters to see Australian pop group 5 Seconds of Summer at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield (we’ll assume 5SOS fans left the parking lot in better shape than Parrot Heads did a few weeks ago). Erna’s daughter Sky seemed very appreciative, calling it the “Best night and day of my life for sure.”

Sully even held up a 5SOS heart. “Dad of the year award for this one!!!!,” he tweeted. Yeah, him and everyone else humming along to “Best Song Ever” and giving the stink-eye to that Luke character.

Godsmack will be back in their proper element this fall, when they head out on a 34-date North American tour that hits the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire for two nights, October 23 and 24.

Erna’s appearance at the XFinity Center even created a bit of solidarity among the many dads in the audience. For one night, at least, they did not stand alone.
