‘I’m bed-ridden’: Passion Pit postpone Thursday’s Lawn On D show as Michael Angelakos falls ill

Passion Pit

Thursday’s sold out Passion Pit show at the Lawn on D has been rescheduled for September 16 as frontman Michael Angelakos recovers from a bout with bronchitis and pneumonia. The Cambridge-born electronic pop band also rescheduled a Wednesday show at Portland, Maine’s Thompson’s Point to September 15, all a result of the musician being hospitalized earlier in the week.

All tickets will be honored at the new dates, and Bowery Boston relays word that refunds for the Lawn On D show are available at point of purchase. Opening act Broods will not be a part of the new dates at either rescheduled show.

Angelakos released a statement about the postponements earlier today. It reads:

My sincerest apologies to everyone who was to attend the shows in Portland, Maine and Boston. Apologies also to the promoters and everyone else involved in helping to make the shows happen — thank you for working with us on this.

I came down with bronchitis/pneumonia, hospitalized for awhile on Monday night. With a pretty bad fever and difficulty breathing, it dawned on me that this wasn’t happening. Believing that I can rest up just in time for these shows isn’t entirely logical. You tour, you get sick, it happens.

I do wish everyone could understand how upset I am that we can’t get these shows together at the times agreed to do them. Please understand that it’s just because I have become quite ill and really need to rest in order to make sure other shows don’t suffer as well. I can’t do anything else really. I’m bed-ridden.

We will be doing our best to make these up as quickly as possible. I love you all, we love you all, and we can’t thank you enough for understanding. We apologize for any and all inconveniences. It’s just a shame. Best of health and see you soon.

Michael

Though no official announcement has been made by Tableist, it’s safe to assume the after party over at Bijou on Thursday, where Angelakos was set to DJ, has been nixed, as well.

More info to come.
