Upright Downtown: Tigerman WOAH, Dirty Bangs, Grey Season and more to play Boston Calling Block Parties

Someone mentioned yesterday that Boston saw its first 80-degree temperatures in something like 200 days. Spring was sprung all around town, and surely attention quickly shifted from “Hey it’s nice out!” to “Hey where the block parties at?!!?”

Boston Calling has your block parties right here, yo.

Today the bi-annual music festival, which officially holds court May 22 to 24 at City Hall Plaza with Pixies, Beck, Tove Lo, and others, announced its yearly block party series, and it’s a pretty good look of locals. Among the bands playing are Rumblers Nemes, Tigerman WOAH, and Dirty Bangs, as well as future global folk ambassadors Grey Season.

In partnership with Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, Shock Top, and Wicked Wines, the Boston Calling Block Party Series will be held this summer at two locations: Dewey Square Park and Summer Street Plaza at Downtown Crossing.

All are free and open to the public, and feature a cash bar.

Boston Calling’s Downtown Crossing Block Parties will be held monthly at Summer Street Plaza from 5pm-8pm. This set of the series kicks off on Thursday, May 7, 2015 with Tigerman Woah and its unique brand of country-folk-punk-rock. The Boston Calling Downtown Crossing Block Parties will then be held on the first Wednesday of each month, June 3, 2015 through September 2, 2015.

Boston Calling’s Dewey Square Park Block Parties will be held every Thursday from 5pm-8pm from May 14, 2015 through September 17, 2015. In the event of rain, the Dewey Square Park Block Parties will be moved to Friday.
