Soak It Up: FIDLAR’s insane ‘If It Makes You Happy’ cover should make Sheryl Crow proud

A few years ago punk band FIDLAR covered “Common People” by Pulp which was awesome but also kind of annoying because every time you played it for someone, he or she responded with “But have you heard William Shatner’s version?” Yes, of fucking course we did, but people wouldn’t shut up about it.

We’re not sure what the response to the Los Angeles punk band’s latest cover would be, outside of the inevitable reaction of “Holy shit.”

FIDLAR have taken Sheryl Crow’s ’90s pop-rock staple “If It Makes You Happy” and blown the doors off it, rebooting the crowd pleaser into a distorted, angry mess that should inspire the singer to send thank you notes.

Crow might also send a crease and desist along with that message, as FIDLAR have repurposed the “If It Makes You Happy” music video with pretty spectacular results.

Turn it up, and turn your attention to Burgerama 4 in March, where FIDLAR will be performing alongside Weezer, Black Lips, Ty Segall, Ariel Pink and dozens of other notable bands and people.
