Echo Out Her Call: Listen to Vérité’s latest bit of modern-pop brilliance, ‘Heartbeat’

It’s a big week for Vérité.

The Next Big Thing in pop music not only has a string of high-profile CMJ shows — including a BMI showcase at the Knitting Factory tonight, a New Shapes Showcase at Santos Party House on Thursday, and a huge Popgun party at Glasslands with Kate Boy on Saturday — but also sees the completed release of her debut EP, Echo.

The fourth and final track of the EP, appropriately titled “Heartbeat,” is another pulsating, emotive modern-pop hit. Buzzfeed debuted it yesterday with the headline “Stop What Your Doing And Listen To Vérité’s debut EP, Echo,” and dubbed the New York singer/songwriter “one of the most intriguing (and kind of mysterious) new artists of 2014.”

Other praise includes hype like “[a] rising pop star ready to make her mark” [The Line of Best Fit] and “steps towards pop royalty” [Neon Gold].

We agree.

If you’re not New York bound this week, catch Vérité at the launch of our V:Music series on November 21 at T.T. The Bear’s Place in Cambridge alongside homegrown dream-pop duo Pale Hands.
