Desert Song: Watch Mushy Peas’ winning music video for Robert Plant’s new single

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant dropped a new solo record last month, Lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, and clearly the man is too busy to be personally hiring the next great music video filmmaker. So Plant hooked up with GeneroTV to allow aspiring videographers to create the music video for the record’s lead single, “Rainbow.”

After more than 100 submissions were entered, the winning clip came from Isabella and Lucien Spelman of Boston production company Mushy Peas.

“‘Rainbow is a profoundly beautiful song, and easily conjured images and inspiration,” says Lucien Spelman. “It is a wonderful honor to be chosen by a true music legend.

Meanwhile, Plant is currently wrapping up a few stateside dates with his new backing band, the Sensational Space Shifters — including Thursday night at the 850-capacity Brooklyn Bowl — before heading to the United Kingdom for a solo tour in November. We’ll keep you posted if he returns to the US and if there is a Boston date.
